Goldie

The next morning dawned bright and clear as Fenris and I set off from the minotaur farm, our sights set on the nearest port town in search of a ship and crew for hire. With Tumble perched on my shoulder and the picnic basket containing the Source Stone slung over my arm, we made our way through the Enchanted Grove, the sounds of the forest coming alive around us.

I couldn't help but marvel at how quickly Fenris was healing from his injuries, his strength and vitality returning with each passing moment. As we walked, I found myself stealing glances at him, unable to shake the sense of awe that filled me at the sight of him.

"Feeling better?" I asked, unable to resist teasing him as we walked.

Fenris nodded, a faint blush coloring his cheeks. "Much better, thank you," he replied, his voice gruff with embarrassment.

I grinned at his reaction, enjoying the way he squirmed under my teasing gaze. "You know," I said playfully, "I think I might have a talent for healing after all."

To my surprise, Fenris' response was not what I had expected. Instead of his usual stoic demeanor, he let out a low chuckle, the sound sending a shiver down my spine. "Perhaps you do," he said, his voice laced with amusement. "Or perhaps it's just the magic of your presence."

I felt my cheeks flush at his words, my heart fluttering in my chest. But before I could respond, I caught sight of something out of the corner of my eye that made me burst into laughter.

Fenris looked at me in confusion, his brow furrowed in bewilderment. "What's so funny?" he asked, his tone curious.

I pointed to his tail, which was wagging back and forth behind him like an overexcited puppy. "Your tail," I managed to say between giggles. "It's wagging."

Fenris' eyes widened in horror as he realized what I was referring to, his cheeks turning a deep shade of crimson. "I-I can explain," he stammered, his embarrassment evident.

But before he could say anything else, Tumble let out a squeaky laugh from my shoulder, its tiny voice filled with amusement. "It's adorable," the little creature chirped, its eyes twinkling with mischief.

I couldn't help but agree as I watched Fenris' embarrassment deepen, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips. I felt a sudden surge of boldness wash over me. Without a second thought, I reached out and gently took Fenris' hand in mine, the warmth of his touch sending a jolt of electricity coursing through me.

And then, before I could second-guess myself, I leaned in and pressed my lips to his, the world around us fading away as we shared a brief, but electrifying, moment of connection. His lips were soft against mine, and for a heartbeat, time seemed to stand still.

When we finally pulled away, I could see the surprise and longing reflected in Fenris' eyes, mirroring my own emotions. "Goldie," he whispered, his voice barely above a breath.

But before he could say anything else, I placed a finger against his lips, silencing him.
